Emir Sanusi Performs First ‘Hawan Daushe’ Durbah Despite Security Fears

The Emir of Kano, His Eminence, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday performed a traditional evening Sallah durbah (Hawan Daushe/ Hawan Babban Daki) in the ancient northern city; his first since becoming emir last month.

 

The traditional Sallah durbah tagged ‘Hawan Daushe/Hawan Babban Daki/Hawan Yamma’ is one of the traditional durbah functions that commences on the second day of every eid.

As has been the tradition, Sanusi II, yesterday observed the ‘Hawan Daushe’ in a vintage Rolls Royce convertible car.

Emir Sanusi and his entourage yesterday observed the ‘Hawan Daushe’amid praises and greetings from the people who thronged either sides of the road.

He finally arrived at ‘Babban Daki’ where his mother started her new life and stayed for a moments.
