Omisore Vows Not To Abandon Aregbesola’s Project If He Becomes Osun Governor

Senator Iyiola Omisore, candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State has pledged not to abandon any ongoing project he inherits from the Rauf Aregbesola administration if he is successful in the election.

 

Speaking to newsmen in Osogbo yesterday, through the Director General of his Campaign Organisation, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Omisore noted that he would complete all projects that are beneficial to the people of the state.

He, nevertheless, chided Governor Aregbesola for allegedly embarking on the construction of Federal Government roads in the state without passing through normal process saying the Federal Government was not duly consulted and so would not pay Aregbesola for the ongoing road projects.

“On roads and other infrastructural facilities, we have seen that we are going to inherit even more than we bargained for, but we have promised the people of Osun State that we are not the type of government that will abandon any project because they were initiated by somebody else, no, the modalities of doing them may be different.”

“How do we stop Gbongan-Sekona road, or how do we stop the roads passing through Osogbo-Ikirun-Esa Odo? The design was even done by Omisore himself when he was in the National Assembly,” Oyewumi noted.

“All these are federal roads, the present governor is doing so that he can get the money from the Federal Government and send it to Lagos but unfortunately, the President did not give him such money because he did not pass through the normal channels.

“Before embarking on the federal roads, they must agree on the cost, all these were not done, they just started the roads and when they got to a certain point, they approached the federal government and it said, ‘we were not consulted’.

“By the grace of God, all these roads will be completed when Omisore become the governor. These people (APC) have no plan for governance, there is poverty in the state. It is very unfortunate that we are experiencing this crisis and people are made to suffer for it.

“We are as a party, we have approached the federal government, we have distributed forms from NEMA and we are going to compensate the people whose properties were destroyed during the road construction in Osogbo.”
